it was such an exciting day today!! e day of matriculation!! haha. it got me all hyped up and ready for school! of cos not forgetting e camps i signed up - SMUX, Acc camp and e compulsory freshmen's orientation camp. cant wait!
ok, e entire day started off w jen being late again! haha. weve come up w this plan, everytime we decide to meet at say 10am, ill tell her to meet at 930am, so shell be on time. haha. ok, i shan embarrass yoo here sister.
there were 10 stations altogether and we (me, jen, amelia and yuelin) only managed to complete abt 6 or 7.. i couldn keep track of which station were at now and which one to proceed on, cos theres simply too many other things to rmb and were like rushing fr one venue to e other.
we began w collection of some doc, den went on to make fee payment (tuition fee + optional stats waiver test), den log in to our smu account and settled e computer stuff. station 5 was phototaking and e collection of smu student card. e card that bears your identification and allows access into e university. psst, weishan actually requested to take photo for a 2nd time!! aiyo! hha. we all jus took one shot la. that vain girl. hahaa. next up, for stations 6 & 7, we had to visit OCS' and OSL' booth to look at e various comm service projects (+ sign up), attend volunteerism talk and sign up for our freshmen orientation. we also went ard looking at e diff 'organisations and faculty booths, and smhow they managed to persuade us to sign up for their camps. so in e end im gg for 3 camps. and i signed up for a comm service project abt sm beach party event that will last fr 18/07 to i think 22/07. den fr 24/07-26/07, ill be gg for SMUX camp, where they introduce u to diving, hiking, trekking, kayaking and all that. cool. straight aft that, fr 27-29, ill be having my accountancy sch camp. im still contemplating whether i shld go for biz camp, dats fr 31/07 to 02/08. wah. like no rest at all man. haha. but im looking fwd to all e camps!! wad a way to start campus life! i heard fr my nus and ntu frens.. how come they only have jus one camp?? they dun seem to have loads of activities too. ahhaa.
so all in all, i spent a total of $102 yesterday leh! jus on signing up for camps and registering for my stats test.
despite spending abt 6-7 hrs in smu, we didn complete all e stations as ive mentioned. so weve decided to go back on mon, to collect our student card (sent for encoding), attend library workshops (for better understanding of e usage of e lib), and finally to purchase our notebooks. tablet rather. rmb e one ho wei kang was using last time during his math lectures? ya thats e one. fr fujitsu. yuelin and amelia seem to have a vv bad impression of acer, and they sorta convinced me to go for fujitsu. though it costs alot more. aye, not to worry, ive got notebook grant!! hahaah. today we actually spent abt half an hr looking at e various notebooks and listening to wad e promoters have to say.. e tablet is definitely more useful to us, but theres one thing i like abt one of e acer models.. its small and light. easy to carry ma. but then again, e weight diff isn that substantial la. e acer one is 1.5kg, while e tablet weighs abt 2kg. i shld be strong enough to carry that to sch rite.. haha.
e international trading talk today was not that boring.. dat was e last thing we covered before we left. e trading track is only offered to finance major students, so ill still think abt it. of abt 50 places available, 20 will be awarded scholarships. meaning they get full funding for their biz studey missions (BSM) and tuition fees for final yr. internships of cos. cool eh.
i cant wait to start my volunteering work and camps. oh ya, we even thought of organising our vv own comm service project. tough work, but its gonna be satisfying and loads of fun!! i noe dear will get vv jealous aft reading this post, dun worry yooll get ur chance too, 2 yrs later!!
everybody work hard k! theres so many things i wanna accomplish in smu, take part in all e fun activities, of cos do well in my studies and make it to e dean's list!! and keep my scholarship of cos. i certainly dun wan e sch to terminate my scholarship, in e event that i dun perform well. so yep. 'new sch revolution'! work hard!!! =D
